I hadn't written much of anything besides school papers and college applications before this summer, but after finishing high school and realizing that texting was a terrible medium for philosophical conversations, I turned to debates between me (played by me) and the devil's advocate (also played by me…) I think you get the gist of where I'm going with this one… Basically, I turned from a well adjusted teen who loved to debate to a lunatic who paced the hallways of her apartment building talking to myself. (If I'm honest, I wasn't really well adjusted in the first place). To prevent this from happening, I began writing, I think it has helped a bit.
We talk some serious circles around everything. Currently I am reading various books about marketing and leading businesses and teaching, and all of them can be summed up in one catch phrase - if the book is any good, it’s the title. The entire book isn't really adding anything to that one line of information, but rather is just finding better more circular ways of saying that one thing. They add anecdotes and numbers to make their catch phrase more convincing and they give you a story about how they have come to their conclusion, but if you really just read the catch phrase and the introduction then applied that to your life, you would waste a lot more time and still get the same out of it.
